It’s been quite a few years since HANGA Shousetsu had a presence in some way, shape, or form. Life has kept me busy from writing often, but I’ve honed my skills and hopefully improved over the years in both creative and technical writing. During the many times I’ve found myself with free time, I’ve read and watched a wide variety of interesting stories from different minds in the comic book industry, which has broadened my narrow, Japan-centric view. You could say that I’ve outgrown my love for Japan, but what hasn’t changed is my love for reading and writing good stories. The format in which I’ve been writing has adapted and evolved with the times, and I’m now moving towards two mediums.
First, I’ve decided to continue my Japanese “tradition” and use the RAINOBE (light novel) style of novelization. As a result, I’m looking for some manga-style artists (both volunteer and commissioned) who can create illustrations for our works. Please send your portfolio or DeviantArt links to heihachi2011 [at] mugenhan [dot] com. I’m also on Twitter (@MugenHAN).
Finally, I plan to break into the comic book world to test the waters. My stories can be adapted to the visual medium, but it will require me to start writing in script format again, but with a set of rules that are standardized in the industry.
Using Celtx as my script writing application of choice, all I have left to do is to find some artists and some stories to make this leap. The leap will be small at first since I will be starting out independently, but my future vision is ambitious.
I don’t have many series ready for online publishing at the moment, but I do plan to post something very shortly. I’ll keep everybody posted.
